An international conference “Cognitive mechanisms and discursive strategies as instruments of overcoming socio-cultural challenges and threats” was held at the RSUH

The international conference “Cognitive mechanisms and discursive strategies as instruments of overcoming socio-cultural challenges and threats”, which was held in the framework of the International Forum “Humanitarian readings of RSUH-2018”, became one of the key events of the forum. The purpose of the conference is to develop research tools and scientific models for analyzing sociocultural threats as a phenomenon that has a significant impact on the development of modern society. During the conference, interaction between various disciplines of the humanities and cognitive science methods was implemented in the development of mechanisms for overcoming social and cultural threats.

The conference were attended by leading experts in the field of cognitive research in Russia and Europe. The presentations were made by Ernst Pöppel, Dr., Prof., Head of the Center for Humanitarian Studies, Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Honorary Doctor of the RSUH, (FRG); Dmitry V. Ushakov, Dr. Professor, Director of the Institute of Psychology, RAS; Boris Mitrofanovich Velichkovsky, Dr., Corr. RAS; Deputy Head of the Kurchatov Complex of NBICS Technologies, NRC Kurchatov Institute, Leading Researcher at the Center for Cognitive Programs and Technologies, RSUH, Ovid Dzeng, prof. Chiao-Tung National University, Honorary Rector of the University System of Taiwan, formerly Minister of Culture of Taiwan; Stephen Cowley, Professor of Language and Communication, University of Southern Denmark. Gergely Tamas, Prof., Dr. (Ph.D. in Cybernetics, D.Sc. in Mathematics), Honorary Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Director of the Laboratory of Applied Logic, Budapest (Hungary).

In total, over 60 people from Germany, Denmark, Taiwan, Australia, Hungary, Belarus and Russia took part in the conference. The geography of speakers from Russia is extensive: Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Saransk, Novosibirsk, Arkhangelsk, St. Petersburg, etc. During the work of the conference, 2 plenary sessions and 7 sessions of sections.
